Junior Olympics State Tournament in Helena

The state tournament draws to a close the season for the Lady Osprey and that is always a sad time.  Unless you win the whole thing you always lose the last game.  But that is OK.  Our teams did very well and we have nothing to be ashamed of this year.  We learn as we go and get stronger because of our defeats. 

The U10 had a great showing.  Lost out on Sunday morning but played extremely hard and took it to the very end.  It was an exciting finish with a base clearing double and a close play at third to end it.  A 5th place finish at state is nothing to be ashamed of.  You girls should be proud of what you accomplished against teams that have been practicing all year.

U12 ended the tournament just short of the hardware round.  They placed 4th overall.  A Very good showing.  There are plenty of strong teams and few weak ones in the U12 division.  Our girls and coaches did a wonderful job of losing and winning with respect and dignity.  Opportunities were there to embarrass other teams and we chose not to do so.  Thank you for representing the Lady Osprey with class.  You girls should be very proud of your accomplishments.  You have had the best showing of our teams this year.

The U14 squad lost out on Saturday but fought very hard.  They were in every game they played.  This team was not expected to do big things this year but surpassed all expectations and then some.  Girls you fought hard in the face of some difficult times and did very well.

The U16 squads battled until the end.  At this level the competition is stiff and it can be anybodies game any day.  The White squad was young and did not have a lot of seasoning but now they do.  The Blue squad had high expectations and did the best they could to reach those goals.  The Blue squad had a great tournament beating a Lady Osprey nemesis in their opener and then losing two tightly contested games.  The last being a 10 inning marathon of great softball.  After reviewing the brackets it looks like the U16 blue placed 7th in the tournament overall.  Keep your heads up and know that you are great!

This has been a great year for Lady Osprey.  It gives us a metric by which to measure the future years.
